A new study on how discrimination is perceived and understood in America found that political party affiliation as well as generation and race all shape one’s perception of discrimination.
The study found that young white people are more likely to say that black people face a lot of discrimination compared to older generations of white people. The study also found that black people are least likely to support same-sex marriage, but mostly likely to oppose laws that prohibit equal service to LGBTQ.
Researchers surveyed over 40,000 people across the U.S. collecting data on attitudes toward discrimination.
