As one of his final moves as President of the United States, President Obama granted clemency to 231 individuals, 78 of which were pardons, completely removing convictions and “restoring civil liberties to those individuals.”
Of those, 153 were granted reduced sentences, many of which were convicted for drug offenses.
The total number of pardons President Obama granted doubles the number of those that he’s granted during his entire presidency, and the most acts of clemency granted in one day, than any other president in America’s history.
