‘Compassion Collective,’ including Cheryl Strayed, Raises $1 Million for Syrian Refugees

This week, the Compassion Collective, a group of writers including author Cheryl Strayed (“Wild”) and Elizabeth Gilbert (“Eat, Pray, Love”), initiated a campaign to raise $1-million for Syrian refugees, a goal they reached in just over a day, all from individual donations of $25 or less.

The Los Angeles Times reports, “According to the collective’s website, the money raised will provide refugees from Syria and elsewhere crossing the Mediterranean and trying to find sanctuary in Europe with ‘food, shelter, warm clothing and hygiene products to give people back a measure of dignity and comfort.’”
