According to researchers at Yale University, studies have found that women in STEM are less likely to be promoted as lead researchers simply because they haven’t received recognition throughout their career as frequently as male scientists.
Examining the careers of more than 6300 adults with postdoctoral research fellowships, the study found that women were 20 percent less likely than their male counterparts to get promoted and the reason was that women were “less likely to get credit for their citations than men.”
Furthermore the study said that the contribution of female researchers tend to get less attention, even in group work.
