Miami-Dade School District is offering children from low-income families access to computers in their own homes. Through the MDCPS initiative called “Connect@Home,” over 300 students in Miami-Dade have already received computers, which they will be able to use at home for homework and learning. They also have access to Wi-Fi hotspots and educational software for their new laptops.

In some Miami areas, one hundred percent of students at school are from low-income families that do not have financial means to access technology.

Giving all students access to the Internet from home helps create a level playing field for all students, regardless of their family’s financial status. Students can continue their education learning at home, not just in the classroom.
