Minnesota: Strange Moves in Health Care

Despite potential changes to the Affordable Care Act, states have tackled enrollment obstacles as best they could for 2017.

Minnesota in particular approached the new year with a $300M law that will lower residents premiums by up to 25 percent for more than 100 thousands residents.

They also attempted to reduce health care costs by proposing removal of essential benefits from health plans. The amendment was not approved.

Minnesota is expected to continue making “broader health insurance reforms” in the coming year, to cope with the high premiums and changes in the ACA.
