Nonprofits will soon benefit from an energy bill that includes provisions to give different nonprofits grants up to $200,000 to improve energy efficiency. The Energy Policy Modernization Act passed with a vote of 85-12.
JTA notes that a number of religious organizations, who can also receive grants, pushed for the bill to pass, including the “National Council of Churches, the Jewish Federations of North America, the Association of American Museum Directors, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, the Sojourners, and The Salvation Army.”
The provision will grant money to go toward upgrading energy sources and replacing ones that are known to deplete and pollute the environment.
