According to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, deaths related to opioid addiction decreased in 14 states.

California, Oregon, Massachusetts, and Tennessee were among the states that saw a decrease in overdose deaths within a 12 month period.

Officials from the CDC warned the newly released numbers are subject to change as many death certificates for the time period have not yet been reported.
