Newly released reports indicate that in the last three years there have been more than 100 cases of sexual harassment, assault, and other violations within University of California system campuses.
UC Berkeley’s recent increase in transgressions drew more attention to the problem, where established professors, a vice chancellor, and an assistant basketball coach were among those who were accused of sexual harassment.
“UC President Janet Napolitano has brought appropriate focus to the issue, instituting a system-wide sexual misconduct policy, mandatory education and a committee to review cases involving senior staff,” reported the SF Chronicle.
The new report indicates that although the University of California is an elite public university system, it still suffers from cases of serious, inappropriate behavior.
