Utah Legislation Will Allow Children to Roam Without Supervision

New legislation in Utah will allow children to roam freely on the streets without supervision, in an effort to “let children experience childhood,” said Senator Lincoln Fillmore.

Children can legally walk to school, bike around or play at the park without parental supervision. This is a provision of the “free-range kids” bill signed in Utah earlier this week.

Proponents of the legislation say the it will allow children to learn how to function without being very sheltered.

The legislation may be the first of its kind in the country. In most states parents can get into trouble if their children are found in the streets unattended, under a certain age limit.
