Some of the benefits of incorporating art into a business, such as a hotel, are obvious: art displays can often elevate an environment, creating a sense of elegance and luxury.
But in other cases, the benefits are less evident.
In China, it is not uncommon for hotels to allot spaces in their design for artworks. In fact, hotels often establish themselves as prime locations for consumers who are interested in art and culture. Hotels have, in many ways, become access points for international culture.
The benefits for artists themselves, are less clear. For well-established artists, creating art works that adjust to themes in hotel designs can be somewhat tricky if they are adjusting to fit their artwork to a particular style. In some cases, as noted by BBC, the artwork can overpower the overall consumer experience.
