The annual vigils honoring those who died from homelessness, often prematurely at 40 or 50-something years of age, were held last Wednesday all across the country.

Many individuals who are homeless face other obstacles, like health issues or mental issues, aside from weathering the cold nights, especially during winter.

Being homeless has a “spiraling effect,” one previously homeless individual said.

In especially expensive cities, it is difficult to find housing opportunities, and may even take years.
