In a “complete re-imagining of the museum’s physical space,” the Milwaukee Art Museum has reopened after the completion of a $34-million project to renovate its facilities, including the addition of a lakefront atrium and entryway and the reorganization of its art galleries.

Museum leaders hope the redesign will boost attendance, which has grown steadily over the past six years from 250,000 to 400,000 yearly visitors. Fortunately for their aspirations, the transformation has already garnered positive reviews. The Chicago Tribune reports praises for the newly revamped museum which herald it as considerably more “user-friendly” and “grown-up” as an institution.
