Global athletic gear powerhouse Nike has partnered with the Austin-based nonprofit “Marathon Kids” to help internationally expand the nonprofit’s mission of making kids more active through running. Founded 20 years ago, Marathon Kids helps communities and schools organize running clubs and programs, but leaves the continued administration of the initiatives to local leaders. According to the nonprofit’s executive director, the partnership will help them maximize time and resources. Nike stands to profit from the publicity of its corporate goodwill and early brand recognition among the children participating in Marathon Kids’ programs.
