Nonprofit Leaders Continue to Rank among MacArthur Geniuses

The MacArthur Fellows, popularly known as the MacArthur “geniuses,” have always included a substantial contingent from the nonprofit world and this year’s class is no exception. Two notable nonprofit leaders from the 2015 fellows are Juan Salgado, president and CEO of the Instituto del Progreso Latino in Chicago and Gary Cohen, founder of Health Care Without Harm. Past winners from the nonprofit realm include Marion Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund; Hipolito (Paul) Roldan, founder of the Hispanic Housing Development Corporation in Chicago; and Lester Brown, founder of the Earth Policy institute.
