Rural America Gets Left Behind in Higher Education

According to data from the National Student Clearinghouse, only 59 percent of students in rural America enroll in higher education upon graduating from high school. Many of them end up working on farms otherwise and never have a chance to pursue work in other fields.

The Atlantic explores some of the different ways in which authorities in higher education institutions have left students in rural America without the same opportunities as students living in urban areas.

Efforts to extend help and to improve support for students in rural America are lacking because they do not often come to mind when considering which students in the country are in need for greater resources in education. Listen to the following podcast that explores this important issue.
