Bill Gates has an idea to tax companies that install robots in place of humans.
The tax money, Gates suggests, could be invested in taking care of the elderly who need services or in schools.
A bill earlier this month in EU proposed a similar idea, to tax owners of robots that replaced human jobs. The bill was rejected.
In an interview with Quartz Magazine, Gates said taxing automation is important to slow the process of replacing human jobs, such as a driving, with robots, because the demand has quickly escalated.
He argues that humans are taxed on the job for social security and income, so robots that produce for a company the same amount of revenue should also be taxed.
